It runs at 16 MHz from the internal oscillator, so no external clock source is needed for most designs. The 56 KB Flash is enough for moderate firmware stacks — sensor fusion, motor-control loops, or a Modbus node — without forcing code compression or external memory. For a BOM line, this part replaces a lower-density MSP430G2xx when the firmware outgrows 32 KB, and it keeps the same peripheral set and pinout across the family.
Built-in ADC and serial interfaces
Twelve 10-bit ADC channels are on-chip, covering most analog sensor inputs without an external converter.
Package and rework — 40-VQFN with exposed pad
The 40-VQFN (6x6 mm) package has an exposed thermal pad underneath. The pad also anchors the part during reflow; a hot-air station can lift it cleanly if the board is preheated to 100°C.
Not rated for under-hood (125°C) environments, so keep it out of the engine bay.
