AEC-Q100 grade: not just capable, qualified
The MSP430G2553IPW0RQ1: This part carries AEC-Q100 qualification, so the OEM auditor will accept the PPAP documentation without a waiver request.
16 MHz core speed and 16 KB Flash — sizing the control loop
The 16 MHz clock rate from the internal oscillator drives the core with enough throughput for real-time sensor polling, LIN bus messaging, and PWM generation at audio-range update rates.
Peripheral set: what connects where
The DMA controller is present, which offloads ADC-to-memory transfers from the CPU — important for keeping the 16 MHz core free for control math during conversion sequences.
At the low end, the internal oscillator and Flash read path must stay within spec — the datasheet's minimum operating voltage for 16 MHz operation is 2.2 V; below that the clock speed is derated. Plan the decoupling for the TSSOP-20 footprint with a 100 nF ceramic at each supply pin and a 4.7 µF bulk cap near the Vcc entry; the internal POR handles the ramp sequence.
The MSP430G2 family is a mature, widely deployed platform, and the AEC-Q100 qualification makes it a stable choice for automotive BOMs that have already passed PPAP.
