4 KB Flash — sizing the firmware budget
With 4 KB of program Flash, this MCU is a fit for simple control loops, state machines, and sensor readout tasks. The 256-byte RAM limits data buffering — expect to manage variables tightly and avoid large lookup tables. For designs that need more headroom, the MSP430G2xx family includes pin-compatible parts with up to 16 KB Flash and 512 B RAM, but the package and peripheral set remain the same.
At the low end, 1.8 V operation allows the MCU to run directly from a nearly depleted battery, extending system runtime. The 24 general-purpose I/O pins, all with interrupt capability, are enough for keypad scanning, LED driving, and simple parallel interfaces.
The 32-VFQFN package (5x5 mm body, exposed pad) is a compact surface-mount option for space-constrained PCBs.
