The MSP430G2001IPW14: That pitch is tight enough to demand a 2-layer board for clean fan-out of the 10 I/O lines plus supply and ground. The 14-TSSOP footprint is a standard JEDEC MO-153 variant, so the land pattern matches any generic 14-pin TSSOP layout — no custom pad geometry needed. At 3.3 V the internal oscillator runs at 16 MHz without external components — the internal oscillator type covers the clock source, so you save a crystal and two load caps on the BOM.
512B flash and 128B RAM — what fits
512 bytes of program flash and 128 bytes of RAM define the application ceiling. That is enough for a single-purpose sensor node, a simple state machine, or a glue-logic replacement — think reading one ADC channel, driving a PWM output, and toggling a few GPIOs. The 128 x 8 RAM (128 bytes) holds a small call stack and a few variables; anything beyond a trivial interrupt service routine will overflow the stack quickly. The 10 I/O pins, brown-out reset, POR, PWM, and WDT peripherals cover basic control tasks. The PWM module is limited — no hardware dead-time insertion or complementary outputs — so it suits fan speed control or LED dimming, not motor-drive PWM. The watchdog timer is a standard 8-bit WDT with interval selection.
