Active production, unified FRAM memory
The MSP430FR5988IRGCT: The 96 KB program memory is built on FRAM, not flash — FRAM writes at bus speed without a page-erase cycle, consumes roughly 250× less energy per byte written than flash, and retains data at the rated 85°C with no wear-leveling requirement across the 10¹⁵ write-cycle endurance.
Connectivity and analog peripherals
Serial interfaces include I²C, SPI, UART/USART, and IrDA — enough to talk to a radio module (SPI), a sensor hub (I²C), and a debug console (UART) simultaneously without a software bit-bang. The 12-channel 12-bit ADC, internal oscillator, and built-in brown-out detect / POR / WDT reduce external BOM count — a minimal run circuit needs only the MCU, a decoupling cap, and the supply rail.
Compliance and sourcing posture
ROHS3 compliant per TI's material declaration — no exemption-based exemptions, so the part passes EU RoHS for new equipment placed on the market after July 2019.
