MSP430FR59721IPM — 16-bit FRAM MCU for mixed-signal control
It integrates 64 KB of FRAM program memory and 2K x 8 of RAM, with 51 general-purpose I/O lines and an 8-channel 12-bit ADC.
FRAM memory — no wear-leveling needed for data logging
The 64 KB FRAM replaces both Flash and EEPROM in a single unified memory space. FRAM writes at bus speed with no erase cycle, so the 2K x 8 RAM is available for scratchpad while the FRAM handles persistent storage. For a calibration technician, this means the part can log trim values or measurement offsets without worrying about write endurance — FRAM endurance is orders of magnitude beyond EEPROM, and the long-term drift of stored values is negligible over the product's service life.
Supply range and ADC accuracy
Brown-out detection and POR are integrated, so the reset circuitry is self-contained.
Connectivity and peripherals
DMA offloads data transfers from the CPU, and the PWM timer supports motor control or LED dimming without software overhead.
