What sets it apart from the bulk of the MSP430 family is the program memory type: 32 KB of FRAM (ferroelectric RAM) instead of conventional Flash or EEPROM. FRAM writes at bus speed with essentially unlimited endurance — no write-cycle budget to manage, no erase-before-write penalty.
Peripherals and I/O
The part brings 33 I/O lines, a 14-channel 12-bit ADC, and serial connectivity covering I²C, SPI, UART, and IrDA. On-chip peripherals include a brown-out reset, POR, DMA, PWM, and a watchdog timer.
Lifecycle and sourcing
No last-time-buy notice or phase-out has been issued.
