32 KB FRAM — the differentiator in this MCU
Its program memory is 32 KB of FRAM — ferroelectric RAM that combines non-volatile storage with fast write speeds and extremely low write energy, unlike conventional Flash. This makes it a strong fit for data-logging, metering, and sensor-node designs where frequent writes to non-volatile memory are needed and battery life matters. The device also includes 1K x 8 of RAM, 33 general-purpose I/O lines, a 14-channel 12-bit ADC, and serial interfaces covering I²C, SPI, UART, IrDA, and SCI.
Package and footprint — 40-VQFN with exposed pad
Housed in a 40-pin VQFN with an exposed thermal pad (6x6 mm body), the MSP430FR59471IRHAT is a surface-mount package suited for automated assembly.
