What the MSP430FR5857IRHAT brings to a BOM
Its headline feature is 32 KB of FRAM program memory — non-volatile, fast-write, and unified, so you skip the separate EEPROM for configuration or data logging.
FRAM memory — no wear-leveling needed
FRAM writes at bus speed and endures orders of magnitude more cycles than Flash or EEPROM. For a data-logging endpoint that writes a 32-byte record every second, a Flash part would need wear-leveling firmware; this part handles it natively. The 32 KB program space also stores calibration constants or boot parameters in the same array, saving a serial EEPROM footprint.
Package and supply — 40-VQFN with exposed pad
The internal oscillator trims to 16 MHz, though an external crystal can be used for tighter timing.
Industrial temperature and connectivity
Brown-out detect and POR are integrated, reducing external supervisor IC cost.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Standard lead times apply through the distribution channel. For a new design, this part carries no supply-risk flag.
