Peripherals and connectivity — what is on the bus
The on-chip peripheral set includes a brown-out detect and reset, DMA controller, POR, PWM timer, and watchdog timer. For serial communication, the MSP430FR5847IDAR supports I²C, IrDA, SCI, SPI, and UART/USART — enough to talk to common sensors, displays, and module-level interfaces without external protocol converters. The internal oscillator eliminates the need for an external crystal in many applications, though the datasheet should be checked for accuracy requirements if the application demands a precise timebase. The 12-bit ADC with 12 input channels samples at rates adequate for slow-to-moderate analog signals like temperature, pressure, or current sense.
