Serial interface coverage for sensor and actuator links
On-chip connectivity includes I²C, SPI, and UART/USART — the three serial buses most commonly used for external ADCs, digital sensors, displays, and radio modules. IrDA and LINbus are also present, covering infrared communication and automotive local interconnect. 21 general-purpose I/O lines in the 28-TSSOP package leave room for a 10-channel 10-bit ADC, PWM outputs, and a watchdog timer.
Industrial temperature rating and supply range
Rated for -40°C to 85°C ambient, the part fits industrial controllers, outdoor telecom nodes, and automotive cabin electronics. Supply voltage spans 2 V to 3.6 V, allowing operation from two alkaline cells or a single Li-ion cell without an external regulator. Internal oscillator keeps the BOM count low.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
TI lists the MSP430FR5738IPWR as Active — no end-of-life notice, no last-time-buy window. For a BOM freeze, this is a stable line. Sourced through independent distribution; availability and current pricing confirmed at quote time against an RFQ. Small-quantity orders are accommodated.
