FRAM MCU for low-power control — now obsolete
The MSP430FR5737IRHAR: It integrates 16 KB of FRAM program memory and 1K x 8 of SRAM, with 32 general-purpose I/O lines. The FRAM technology combines the non-volatility of Flash with the write speed and endurance of RAM, eliminating the need for separate EEPROM in many designs. It is packaged in a 40-VFQFN with an exposed thermal pad (6x6 mm body).
This means TI has ceased production and no further factory orders can be placed. Last-time-buy windows have closed. Sourcing is now limited to the independent distribution channel — broker, surplus, and verified-new-stock inventories. Any available units are already in the supply chain and will not be replenished. For a new design, an alternate part should be qualified; for a sustaining BOM line, the procurement plan must account for finite available stock.
The device comes in a 40-VFQFN exposed-pad package (supplier device package 40-VQFN, 6x6 mm). The surface-mount footprint requires a solder-paste stencil with appropriate aperture coverage under the pad.
Supply rail and I/O tolerance
The 24 MHz core speed is achievable across the full voltage range, though the flash-wait-state configuration in the FRAM controller should be verified against the datasheet timing for the target clock frequency. The 32 I/O pins are 5 V-tolerant only if the datasheet specifies it — check the I/O structure before interfacing to 5 V logic without level translation.
