FRAM-based 16-bit MCU — what the 24 MHz and 4 KB FRAM mean for your BOM
FRAM is the key differentiator here: it is non-volatile like Flash but writes at near-SRAM speeds with essentially unlimited endurance — no erase cycles, no write-page buffers. That makes it a strong fit for data-logging, configuration storage, or any application where the MCU writes its own code space frequently, such as over-the-air firmware updates or parameter calibration in industrial sensors.
This means TI has ended production; there is no official last-time-buy window open. For existing BOM lines, the independent channel can still fill orders while stock lasts, but expect tightening availability as the installed base consumes the remaining inventory.
