16 KB FRAM — the endurance advantage over Flash
Its 16 KB program memory uses FRAM (ferroelectric RAM) instead of Flash, which means writes are nearly instantaneous and endure for over 10^15 cycles — no wear-leveling needed, no write-buffer delays. The 1K x 8 RAM is modest — enough for small sensor buffers and state machines, but not for large packet queues or complex RTOS tasks.
Supply range and power-tree simplification
The brown-out detect and POR circuits handle startup sequencing, so the external reset supervisor can often be omitted.
24-VQFN package — layout checklist
Housed in a 24-VQFN with a 4x4 mm body and exposed thermal pad. The 17 I/O are on the QFN perimeter — route traces under the pad only if the PCB stackup allows a filled via-in-pad process.
Industrial temperature grade and environment
Not specified for under-hood or downhole environments — those would need the AEC-Q100 or extended-temperature variants in the MSP430 family.
