The 8KB FRAM program memory is the standout feature. Unlike Flash-based MCUs that wear out after 10,000 to 100,000 erase/write cycles, FRAM can handle over 10¹⁵ write cycles — effectively unlimited for any practical product lifetime. Write operations also consume less energy per byte than Flash, which matters for battery-powered designs that log data frequently. The 8KB size is enough for a modest firmware stack handling sensor reads, communication protocol framing, and state-machine control. For applications that need more code space, TI offers higher-density FRAM variants in the same MSP430FR57xx family.
38-TSSOP package and supply range
The MSP430FR5723IDAR is supplied in a 38-TSSOP package (0.240", 6.10mm width), a surface-mount footprint common in space-constrained industrial PCBs. The 30 I/O lines provide enough headroom for a keypad, LED indicators, and a parallel LCD interface alongside the serial buses.
