Core and memory architecture
The MSP430FR4133IPMR runs a 16-bit MSP430 CPU16 core at 16 MHz (cites:,). FRAM program memory (15.5 KB) unifies code and data storage with fast write endurance — no erase-before-write penalty, so the firmware update cycle is shorter than on equivalent Flash MCUs (cites:,). 2 KB of SRAM (2K x 8) holds the runtime stack and small data buffers; for larger data structures the FRAM itself can be used as RAM at the cost of access cycles (cites:).
I/O and peripheral integration
60 general-purpose I/O lines give this MCU the pin count to drive parallel LCD segments, scan a membrane keypad, and still leave room for sensor inputs (cites:). Serial connectivity covers I²C, SPI, and UART/USART, plus IrDA and SCI — the usual bus set for communicating with external ADCs, serial EEPROMs, radio modules, or sensor bridges (cites:).
