FRAM instead of Flash — what it changes for the BOM
Its program memory is 4.5 KB of FRAM — not Flash — which means writes are nearly unlimited (10^15 cycle endurance) and occur at full speed without an erase step. For a firmware-update strategy or data-logging application, this eliminates the wear-leveling and sector-management overhead that Flash-based MCUs require. The 512 x 8 SRAM supports a small stack and variable workspace; the 44 I/O lines include a segment LCD driver, making this a natural fit for metering, portable instrumentation, and human-machine-interface panels where the display is a segment LCD rather than a graphics panel.
