16 MHz MSP430 core with 15.5 KB FRAM — the ultra-low-power workhorse
FRAM is the headline feature here: it writes at near-SRAM speed, consumes negligible power per write, and endures 10^15 write cycles — orders of magnitude beyond Flash or EEPROM. The 19 GPIO pins in the 32-TSSOP package provide enough headroom for a small keypad, LED indicators, and a couple of external sensors.
The 32-TSSOP package (6.10 mm body width) is a fine-pitch surface-mount footprint that routes easily on two-layer boards; the 0.65 mm pin pitch demands a standard TSSOP land pattern. Internal oscillator is on-die, so no external crystal is needed for UART or basic timing — saves two pins and a couple of passive components. The 19 I/O lines are enough for a modest human-machine interface or a multi-sensor aggregation node.
It is ROHS3 compliant (no exemptions). The base product number is MSP430FR2533, so future spins or package variants will track under that family umbrella.
