32 KB FRAM — no more write-cycle anxiety
The MSP430FR2355TPT from Texas Instruments is a 16-bit MCU built around the MSP430 CPU16 core, clocked at 24 MHz. Its program memory is 32 KB of FRAM, not Flash — meaning writes are fast, low-power, and effectively unlimited in endurance. For a firmware engineer used to budgeting erase cycles in a Flash part, FRAM removes that constraint entirely: you can log data, update firmware over the air, or store calibration constants without wear-leveling or a separate EEPROM. The 4 K x 8 SRAM handles stack and scratchpad, while the 44 GPIOs in the 48-LQFP package give enough headroom for sensor arrays or a modest display interface.
I/O and analog integration in a 7x7 mm footprint
With 44 I/O lines, this part packs a lot of connectivity into a 48-LQFP body (7x7 mm). The on-chip data converters are a 12-channel, 12-bit ADC and a 4-channel, 12-bit DAC, which can close a control loop or generate analog setpoints without external converters.
