Six 24-bit sigma-delta converters — the differentiator
Most 16-bit MCUs in this footprint offer a single SAR ADC or a pair of 16-bit sigma-delta channels. The MSP430F67671AIPEU carries six independent 24-bit sigma-delta converters, which means a single chip can handle three-phase voltage and current sensing plus a neutral channel without external analog muxing or multiple ADCs. For a three-phase energy meter or a power-quality monitor, that collapses the analog front-end BOM and simplifies the calibration routine — the six converters share a common reference and can be synchronized in hardware.
128-LQFP package and 90 I/O — board-level fit
The 128-LQFP package (20x14 mm body) provides 90 general-purpose I/O pins, enough to drive a segment LCD directly (the peripheral set includes an LCD controller), interface to external FRAM or serial Flash via the SPI or I²C ports, and still have pins left for UART-based communication with a host processor or wireless module.
Texas Instruments lists the MSP430F67671AIPEU as Active.
