Six 24-bit sigma-delta ADCs — the metering-grade MCU
What sets it apart from the MSP430 value line is the integrated six-channel 24-bit sigma-delta ADC array, purpose-built for polyphase energy metering, precision instrumentation, and sensor fusion where multiple simultaneous high-resolution conversions are needed.
128-LQFP — 90 I/O and a reworkable footprint
Housed in a 128-LQFP (20x14 mm body), this part gives you 90 general-purpose I/O — enough to drive a segment LCD directly (the peripheral set includes an LCD controller), interface to external sensors, and manage a parallel display or keypad. The LQFP is a rework-friendly package: you can hand-solder or hot-air reflow it without the thermal mass challenges of a QFN or BGA. No exposed pad means you don't have to worry about solder voiding under the die.
The 25 MHz core speed is maintained across the full temperature range, but the sigma-delta converter's offset drift should be characterised if you're pushing the ADC to its noise floor at the temperature extremes.
