MSP430F6748AIPZR — precision measurement MCU with on-chip sigma-delta ADCs
16-bit microcontroller with 25 MHz core, 512 KB Flash, and 16 KB RAM. Includes four 24-bit sigma-delta ADCs and an LCD driver.
What the 25 MHz core and 24-bit ADCs mean for the design
25 MHz clock rate with 16-bit RISC architecture and hardware multiplier. Four 24-bit sigma-delta converters resolve microvolt-level signals.
Integration note — LCD, sigma-delta, and the 100-pin footprint
The 100-LQFP (14x14 mm) is a standard surface-mount package, routable on a two-layer board if you're careful with the analog and digital ground planes. The sigma-delta ADCs need a clean analog supply — the datasheet recommends separate AVCC and DVCC pins, which this part provides. The LCD driver uses charge-pump bias, so keep the external capacitor close to the VLCD pin. On the digital side, the 62 I/O include the full complement of serial peripherals: two UARTs, two SPIs, and one I2C. Brown-out reset and the watchdog timer are built in, so external supervision is minimal.
