25 MHz MSP430 CPUXV2 with integrated metrology peripherals
The MSP430F6745IPEU integrates a 4x24-bit sigma-delta ADC array and a segment LCD driver.
The four 24-bit sigma-delta converters are the part's defining feature. They allow simultaneous sampling of multiple analog channels — think three-phase power monitoring plus neutral current, or multi-axis load-cell readout — without an external multiplexer or separate ADC IC. The 24-bit resolution gives the dynamic range to resolve microvolt-level signals in the presence of a large DC offset, which is exactly what energy metering and precision weigh-scale applications need. For a BOM engineer, this means the MSP430F6745IPEU collapses what would be a multi-chip analog front-end into one MCU, saving board area and reducing the calibration burden across separate converter parts.
Segment LCD driver and 90 I/O for system integration
The on-chip LCD driver drives a segmented glass display directly — no external display controller or driver IC. Combined with 90 general-purpose I/O pins, this MCU can handle a local user interface (display plus pushbuttons or a small keypad) alongside the sensor interface and communication links. The I/O count is high for a 128-pin LQFP: 90 pins leaves headroom for parallel data buses, multiple chip selects, and discrete control signals without needing a port expander.
The 128-LQFP package (20x14 mm body) is a standard footprint with broad second-source assembly support, so the supply chain is not locked to a single packaging house.
