The MSP430F5514IRGCT is a 16-bit microcontroller from the MSP430F5xx series, built around the MSP430 CPUXV2 core clocked at 25 MHz. It integrates 64 KB of on-chip Flash and 6 KB of RAM — enough headroom for a USB-enabled sensor hub or a portable instrument running a real-time control loop with a small protocol stack.
Connectivity and USB integration
This MCU includes a USB 2.0 full-speed module alongside I²C, IrDA, LINbus, SCI, SPI, and UART/USART interfaces. The USB peripheral supports device and host modes without an external PHY — a key advantage for data-logging instruments that plug directly into a PC or charge via USB. The 64-VFQFN exposed-pad package (9x9 mm, supplier device package 64-VQFN) provides good thermal dissipation for the core and USB transceiver when the MCU is active. The 0.5 mm pitch demands careful PCB layout but keeps the footprint compact for two-layer boards.
