25 MHz 16-bit core with USB — a mid-range MSP430 for connected control
The 47 general-purpose I/O lines and integrated 12-channel 10-bit ADC give it the peripheral count for mixed-signal control loops in industrial or building-automation panels.
With 24 KB of Flash and 6 KB of RAM, this MCU fits firmware for a USB CDC class, a Modbus RTU slave stack, or a simple data logger. The 6 KB RAM is organised as 6K x 8, which matches the 16-bit core's byte-addressable architecture.
64-VQFN package — footprint and thermal considerations
The exposed pad also provides a low-inductance ground return, which helps with EMI on the USB differential pair. The 64-pin count gives access to all 47 I/O plus the USB D+/D− lines, the ADC inputs, and the serial interface pins without multiplexing conflicts for most designs.
