The MSP430F5435AIPN runs the 16-bit MSP430 CPUXV2 core at 25 MHz, with 192 KB of program flash and 16 KB of RAM. That flash-to-RAM ratio suits a control application that stores moderate lookup tables or firmware overlays and keeps the active state in RAM — a sensor hub logging data before a wireless burst, for instance. The 67 general-purpose I/O lines leave room for a parallel LCD bus, keypad matrix, and a handful of discrete sensors alongside the serial peripherals.
Peripheral set for sensor fusion and fieldbus bridging
The 16-channel 12-bit ADC captures analog inputs from thermistors, potentiometers, or current shunts without an external mux. Built-in brown-out detect, POR, DMA, PWM, and watchdog timer reduce external supervisory IC count — the brown-out reset holds the core in reset until the supply is stable, so a simple RC on the reset pin is enough for most designs.
An outdoor telemetry gateway or a factory-floor controller that sees 70°C in the enclosure still has margin. The 80-LQFP package (12x12 mm) has a 0.50 mm pitch that routes cleanly on a 4-layer board; two-layer breakout is possible for the inner rows if the via-in-pad is avoided.
