128 KB Flash — firmware field-update planning
With 128 KB of Flash, you can fit a modest bootloader plus application code, leaving room for one or two field-update image banks. The MSP430F5xx supports in-system programming via UART or SPI, so you can reflash the part on the board without a programmer — handy for production line updates or field firmware patches. Just watch the Flash endurance: 100K write/erase cycles typical, so wear-leveling is unnecessary for most applications.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The MSP430F5333IPZ is flagged as end-of-life (EOL) in the lifecycle record, though the product status shows as active. For new designs, TI recommends moving to a current MSP430F5xx or MSP430FRxx variant. For existing BOMs, we source this part to order through independent distribution; submit an RFQ for current availability and pricing.
