Active production — BOM-fit note
The Texas Instruments MSP430F47176IPZR is an active-production 16-bit MCU from the MSP430x4xx series, built around the MSP430 CPU16 core. The 100-LQFP package (14x14 mm body) with 68 I/O gives board designers a dense but hand-solderable footprint.
ADC and peripheral mix — what drives the selection
The peripheral set includes a direct LCD driver, DMA for data movement without CPU intervention, brown-out detect and POR for supply-rail integrity, plus a PWM timer for stepper or DC motor control. The connectivity block covers I²C, IrDA, LINbus, SCI, SPI, and UART/USART — enough serial interfaces to talk to a metering AFE, a display module, and a host processor on the same bus.
Industrial temperature grade — deployment context
The internal oscillator eliminates the external crystal in non-critical timing applications, saving two board layers in a cost-sensitive layout.
