16 MHz MSP430 CPU16 with 32 KB Flash
The MSP430F2272IDAR runs the MSP430 CPU16 core at 16 MHz — the pipeline is a 16-bit RISC with a single-cycle hardware multiplier, so the MIPS ceiling is close to the clock rate for register-to-register ops. With 32 KB of Flash (32K x 8 plus 256 B for info/calibration) and 1 KB SRAM (1K x 8), the memory budget fits a mixed-signal sensor node running a control loop and a serial protocol stack, but leaves little headroom for a full RTOS footprint. The internal oscillator eliminates an external crystal for the main clock, saving two pins and board area.
Peripheral set for sensor and bus applications
On-chip peripherals include a 12-channel 10-bit ADC, brown-out detect, POR, PWM, and a watchdog timer — enough to close a temperature or current sense loop without external analog components. Serial connectivity covers I²C, SPI, UART, IrDA, and LINbus, so the part can act as a LIN slave node in an automotive body module or as an I²C sensor hub on a mixed-signal board. The 32 general-purpose I/O pins (38-TSSOP package, 6.10 mm body width) provide enough port pins to drive an alphanumeric LCD segment or read a key matrix alongside the serial buses.
