The 24 general-purpose I/O lines, combined with I²C, SPI, and UART connectivity, cover the common serial buses for temperature sensors, digital potentiometers, and small displays. An 8-channel 10-bit ADC is on-chip for analog inputs, and the brown-out detect and POR circuits reduce external supervisor IC count.
The 1.8 V minimum supply means a 3.3 V rail needs a regulator with low dropout at the MCU's active current draw; the 16 MHz core clock draws roughly 2.5 mA typical at 3 V, so a small LDO suffices.
