What this 16-bit MCU brings to a BOM
The MSP430F2122TRHBR: It packs 4KB of Flash program memory and 512 x 8 bytes of RAM, with 24 general-purpose I/O lines. The 8-channel 10-bit ADC handles analog inputs directly.
At 105°C the Flash retention and oscillator stability are guaranteed per the datasheet limits, so a motor-drive control loop or a LIN-bus node in a truck cab stays reliable through a hot soak.
Package and footprint — 32-VQFN with exposed pad
The QFN's edge castellations make manual inspection possible, but rework requires a hot-air station with a fine nozzle; the pad pitch is tight enough that solder bridging between adjacent pins is a real risk without a stencil.
TI lists the MSP430F2122TRHBR as Active. The base product number MSP430F2122 spans several package and temperature options, so if the VQFN reel runs short, the TSSOP or PDIP sibling might serve as a drop-in on a redesigned board, but the footprint differs.
