The MSP430F2122TPW: The MSP430 CPU16 core runs at 16 MHz — enough for a sensor hub reading an 8-channel 10-bit ADC and pushing data out over I²C or UART without the core saturating. The 4 KB flash and 512 B RAM limit the firmware to a small control loop with a modest lookup table; expect to fit a PID loop, a Modbus RTU slave, or a battery-monitor state machine in that budget.

On-chip peripherals — what is built in
Brown-out detect and POR reset the MCU cleanly on power-up and during supply dips — no external supervisor needed for most single-rail designs. The 8-channel 10-bit ADC samples at up to 200 ksps; the input mux accepts both analog and digital pins, so the same 24 I/O lines can serve as keypad inputs or temperature-sensor channels.
