The 60 KB Flash (organized as 60K x 8 plus 256 bytes) is typical for the MSP430x1xx mid-range and gives room for a modest RTOS, sensor fusion libraries, and communication stacks. The 2 KB RAM handles small data buffers and stack frames; designs that need larger packet buffers or data logging should budget for external SPI SRAM or move up the MSP430 family. The on-chip Slope A/D converter handles slow analog inputs without an external ADC, saving BOM cost.
Peripherals and connectivity for sensor and control applications
On-chip peripherals include POR (power-on reset), PWM outputs, and a watchdog timer. Serial connectivity covers SPI and UART/USART, enough to interface with common sensors, radios, and serial displays. The 48 I/O pins provide headroom for parallel LCD interfaces, keypad matrices, or multiple external interrupts.
