Memory and peripheral budget – what fits in 8 KB
With 8 KB of Flash and 256 bytes of RAM, the firmware image is limited to small control algorithms, state machines, and bootloader stubs. The 256-byte RAM is the real bottleneck – it rules out large data buffers or a full TCP/IP stack. The 8-channel 10-bit ADC is adequate for reading thermistors, potentiometers, or battery voltage dividers, but 10-bit resolution means you trade precision for speed and low current. The internal oscillator trims to 8 MHz without an external crystal, saving two pins and a few cents on the BOM.
