What this 16-bit MSP430 brings to a low-power BOM
The 14 general-purpose I/O lines and an internal slope A/D converter let it read a resistive sensor or a thermistor without an external ADC.
1 KB Flash and 128 B RAM — sizing the firmware envelope
The 1 KB Flash (organized as 1 K x 8 plus 256 B of information memory) and 128 x 8 RAM are the tightest memory tier in the MSP430 family. The 256 B information memory can hold calibration constants or a serial number that survives firmware updates. The 8 MHz core speed keeps the CPU active for short bursts, letting the part spend most of its time in low-power modes.
The part is ROHS3 compliant.
