25 MHz MSP430 core with precision measurement peripherals
The MSP430A155IPZ is a 16-bit RISC MCU from the MSP430F6xx family, clocked at 25 MHz with a 64 KB FLASH program memory and 4 KB RAM. The 72 GPIOs in a 100-LQFP package leave enough headroom for a parallel LCD data bus alongside a keypad matrix and sensor interfaces. Its dual ADC block — 8 channels of 10-bit successive-approximation plus 3 channels of 24-bit sigma-delta — is the main differentiator versus smaller MSP430 derivatives. The 24-bit channels resolve microvolt-level signals from bridge sensors or thermocouples without an external amplifier, while the 10-bit SAR handles faster multiplexed scans for system monitoring.
Industrial temp range and single-supply operation
The internal oscillator eliminates the external crystal for many applications, though the I²C, SPI, UART, LINbus, and IrDA interfaces remain available for wired sensor buses. The brown-out detect and POR peripherals ensure a clean reset on power-up and during supply dips — critical for battery-powered instruments where the rail decays slowly.
