16-bit MSP430 with integrated LCD drive
The Texas Instruments MSP430A048IPM is a 16-bit ultra-low-power MCU from the MSP430x4xx family, built around the MSP430 core and clocked at 8 MHz. It carries 8 KB of Flash program memory and 256 B of RAM, plus 48 general-purpose I/O lines. The part integrates a segmented-LCD driver, a slope A/D converter, and a brown-out detect/reset and watchdog timer — enough peripheral set to run a battery-powered metering or sensor-display panel without external glue logic.
Industrial temperature range and supply
Operates from -40°C to 85°C ambient. Supply range is 1.8 V to 3.6 V. Internal oscillator is available.
64-LQFP footprint and I/O count
Housed in a 64-LQFP (10x10 mm) surface-mount package, the MSP430A048IPM shares the same body size and pin pitch as many other LQFP-64 MCUs, simplifying board layout if a second-source or higher-density sibling is later considered. With 48 I/O lines available, the part can drive a 4x32 segmented LCD, read a membrane keypad, and still leave pins for UART, SPI, or I²C communication to external sensors or a wireless module.
Active lifecycle — no end-of-line pressure
Texas Instruments lists the MSP430A048IPM as Active. No last-time-buy notice or NRND flag is in effect, so the part can be specified into new BOMs with normal factory lead times. For volume or scheduled orders, the part is quoted against an RFQ through independent distribution; availability and current pricing are confirmed at quote time.
