This driver handles 7-segment plus decimal point, alphanumeric, and bar-graph LCD displays — a single part covers segmented numeric readouts and custom symbol layouts. A 3V to 10V supply range lets the MM5452VX/NOPB operate from a 5V logic rail or a 9V battery without an external regulator, simplifying the power tree in portable or battery-backed meters.
Housed in a 44-lead PLCC (J-lead) package with a 16.58x16.58 mm body, the part reflows with standard surface-mount profiles. The serial interface reduces the number of board traces compared to a parallel bus — three or four signal lines to the host microcontroller instead of a wide data bus.
