Product details

RS-232 interface with wide supply tolerance

The 250kbps data rate supports standard UART communication for industrial control, point-of-sale terminals, and telecom equipment. Receiver hysteresis of 300 mV provides noise immunity on the serial line.

The 3V to 5.5V supply range allows direct connection to 3.3V MCU UARTs without a level shifter, and also works on legacy 5V backplanes — one part covers both scenarios.

Housed in a 16-SSOP (5.30 mm width) body, the part uses a standard surface-mount footprint shared with many other RS-232 transceivers from TI and competitors.

Frequently asked questions

Is MAX3232EIDBR a direct replacement for MAX3232EID?

Yes, the MAX3232EIDBR is the same die as the MAX3232EID. The only difference is the shipping medium: the 'R' suffix indicates Tape & Reel packaging, while the base part ships in tubes. The electrical specs and footprint are identical.
