RS-232 transceiver with a wide supply net
The 300 mV receiver hysteresis keeps noise on longer cable runs from causing false start bits — useful in industrial panels or point-of-sale terminals where the cable leaves the cabinet.
Supply voltage — 3V to 5.5V covers both worlds
The wide supply range is the headline feature here. It works with 3.3V logic natively — no extra regulator or level translator — and also accepts 5V for legacy UARTs or mixed-voltage backplanes. That makes it a drop-in for designs migrating from 5V to 3.3V without a board spin.
Data rate — 250 kbps is enough for most serial links
At 250 kbps, this transceiver comfortably handles standard UART speeds up to 115200 baud and then some. It is not built for high-speed RS-232 like 1 Mbps links, but for the vast majority of terminal, sensor, and control interfaces 250 kbps is more than adequate.
