What is the MAX232EING4?
It integrates two drivers and two receivers, handling data rates up to 250 kbps over a single 5V supply rail.
Supply voltage and 3.3V compatibility
It is not designed for 3.3V logic systems — the charge-pump architecture needs the 5V rail to generate the ±10V RS-232 output levels. If your design runs on 3.3V only, look at a low-voltage RS-232 transceiver such as the MAX3232 family instead.
Data rate and receiver hysteresis
Rated at 250 kbps, this transceiver covers standard UART speeds up to 115.2 kbps with margin.
