RS232 transceiver for 5 V serial links
This is the tape-and-reel variant of the industry-standard MAX232 family, intended for commercial-temperature (0°C to 70°C) equipment where a proven, drop-in RS232 level shifter is needed.
At 250 kbps the part comfortably covers standard RS232 applications like debug UARTs, modem control, and point-of-sale terminal interfaces. The 500 mV hysteresis on the receiver inputs helps maintain a clean logic level on longer cable runs or in electrically noisy environments typical of commercial enclosures. If your design needs faster throughput — say 1 Mbps for a high-speed industrial link — this part won't close timing; the MAX3222 family is the next step up.
