What this LDO brings to an automotive rail
The Texas Instruments LP5912Q3.0DRVTQ1 is a single-output, fixed 3 V positive linear regulator rated for 500 mA continuous output, qualified to AEC-Q100 for automotive stress and reliability. The part includes Enable, Power Good, and Soft Start control features, plus protection against over-temperature, reverse polarity, and short circuits. With a quiescent current of 55 µA and a maximum supply current of 600 µA, this LDO is suited for always-on automotive modules — body controllers, sensor interface rails, or CAN transceiver supplies — where standby drain matters.
PSRR is specified at 80 dB at 100 Hz, rolling to 40 dB at 100 kHz. That 80 dB at line-frequency ripple is what cleans up the output from a switching pre-regulator or alternator noise; the roll-off above audio band means the LDO still provides meaningful rejection into the hundreds of kHz, but a downstream filter cap may be needed if the load is sensitive above 100 kHz. For a 3 V rail feeding an analog sensor or ADC reference, this PSRR profile is the main selection parameter. Maximum dropout voltage is 0.25 V at 500 mA. The 6.5 V maximum input gives margin for automotive load-dump transients if protected externally.
