9-channel charge-pump LED driver for backlight arrays
The LP5523TM/NOPB is a 9-output DC-DC regulator LED driver from Texas Instruments, built around a switched-capacitor (charge pump) topology. It targets backlight applications where multiple independent channels need uniform current regulation from a single supply rail. Each of the nine channels delivers up to 25.5 mA, with brightness controlled via PWM dimming. The charge pump steps the input voltage as needed, keeping the LED forward voltage overhead without an external inductor — a space-saving choice for thin-profile backlight panels.
Supply range, temperature grade, and package fit
The -30°C to +85°C ambient range suits consumer and industrial indoor gear — backlit displays, keypads, or indicator arrays that see ambient temperature but not engine-bay heat. Housed in a 25-bump DSBGA (0.4 mm pitch typical for this class), the 25-DSBGA package requires a PCB with fine-line routing and a stencil designed for the solder-ball layout. The surface-mount footprint is the primary integration constraint — the charge pump itself needs only a few external flying capacitors, keeping the BOM count low.
No pin-compatible second source is documented in this family — the BOM position is single-sourced to this TI order code.
