3 V fixed LDO for low-headroom and wide-input rails
The Texas Instruments LP2950-30LPR is a positive fixed-output linear regulator delivering 3 V at up to 100 mA. It is part of the LP2950 family, a well-established series of micropower LDOs known for low quiescent current and wide input range. The 30 V maximum input makes it one of the few 100 mA LDOs that can regulate directly from a 24 V industrial bus or a multi-cell Li-ion stack without a pre-regulator. Dropout is specified at 0.6 V maximum at full load, so a 3.6 V input rail still holds the 3 V output through a cold-crank event.
Package and mounting — through-hole TO-92 for board-level regulation
Housed in a TO-226-3 / TO-92-3 package with formed leads, the LP2950-30LPR is a through-hole device intended for PCB mounting. The three-lead TO-92 outline is a standard footprint for low-power linear regulators, easily hand-solderable and compatible with socketed or wave-solder assembly.
Protection features and quiescent draw
On-chip protection includes over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuit limiting — enough to survive a momentary output short without external clamp diodes. Quiescent current is 120 µA typical, which keeps the battery drain low in always-on applications. Maximum supply current is 14 mA, relevant when sizing the input rail for worst-case fault conditions.
