6 GHz delta-sigma PLL for microwave synthesis
The LMX2487SQ/NOPB is a PLL frequency synthesizer with an integrated delta-sigma modulator, capable of locking to input frequencies up to 6 GHz. That puts it in the band for Ku-band satellite downconverters, point-to-point microwave backhaul, and high-frequency test equipment local oscillators — well beyond the reach of a standard 38 MHz PLL like the CD74HCT7046AE. The delta-sigma architecture allows fractional-N synthesis, so you can hit fine frequency steps without swapping the reference crystal. The part accepts a CMOS input and delivers a CMOS output, with a 3:2 input-to-output ratio and an on-chip divider and multiplier.
Supply and temperature range for field deployment
Supply voltage spans 2.5V to 3.6V, so a 3.3V rail is right in the sweet spot — no extra regulator needed if your board already runs 3.3V logic. The 0.50 mm pitch is manageable on a 4-layer board; a 2-layer board may struggle with fan-out on the inner pads.
Active production — no last-time-buy pressure
The part is supplied on tape and reel (TR) or cut tape (CT), so it fits both automated pick-and-place lines and prototype bench builds.
