What the 600 ns propagation delay means for your signal chain
The LMV393MMX/NOPB is a dual general-purpose comparator from Texas Instruments, packing two independent comparators in a single 8-VSSOP package. Its 600 ns max propagation delay sets the upper bound on how fast it can toggle — at 5 V supply, the output transitions in under a microsecond, which is fast enough for threshold detection in sensor interfaces, overcurrent trip circuits, and zero-crossing detectors running below about 800 kHz. The 300 µA max quiescent current means the pair draws under a third of a milliamp from the rail, making it a fit for battery-powered or loop-powered designs where every microamp is budgeted.
Supply range and output flexibility
The output stage is CMOS, open-collector, or TTL-compatible — the open-collector option lets you wire-OR multiple outputs or pull up to a different voltage rail, which is handy when the comparator output feeds a logic input at a different supply level.
Input offset and bias — the real-world accuracy limits
For a low-side current-sense resistor of 100 mΩ, a 7 mV offset corresponds to a 70 mA error in the trip point — that is the dominant accuracy term, not the resistor tolerance. The 0.25 µA bias current matters when the source impedance is high; with a 10 kΩ source, the bias drops 2.5 mV across the resistor, adding to the offset.
