14-SOIC quad comparator — what the package and supply tell you

The LMV339MX: Four comparators in one 14-pin SOIC means the board layout needs to keep the output traces away from the input pins to avoid coupling — the 600ns propagation delay is fast enough that a long parallel run on a 2-layer board can inject a false edge. Supply range is 2.7V to 5.5V single supply, or dual supplies if your design calls for it — the low 300µA max quiescent current across all four channels means it can live on a 3.3V rail shared with an MCU without dropping the regulator out of regulation.

Output is CMOS, open-collector, or TTL compatible — the open-collector option lets you wire-OR multiple comparator outputs to a single interrupt line, handy for over-temperature or over-current fault summing. The 84mA typical output current at 5V drives a logic input or a small relay directly, though the 14-SOIC package limits total dissipation if all four outputs sink current simultaneously.

Temperature grade and field-repair reality

The 14-SOIC package is reworkable with a standard hot-air station — no bottom-side pad, no thermal vias under the body. On a field repair, the orientation is obvious from the pin-1 notch; just pre-tin the board pads and the part self-centers on reflow.
