Product details

2A point-of-load buck at 3 MHz

The LMR10520YSD/NOPB is a 2A adjustable step-down regulator from the SIMPLE SWITCHER family, switching at 3 MHz to shrink the inductor and output capacitor to small-footprint 0805 or 0603 passives. The 3V to 5.5V input range directly regulates from 3.3V or 5V rails, and the adjustable output from 0.6V to 4.5V covers core voltages for FPGAs, MCUs, and I/O banks.

6-WSON exposed pad — rework and thermal reality

The exposed pad also means the part sits flush against the board; a hot-air rework station with a 3x3 mm nozzle lifts it cleanly if the board has been baked per J-STD-033 for moisture sensitivity.

No synchronous rectifier — plan for the Schottky

The LMR10520YSD/NOPB uses an external Schottky catch diode instead of an integrated synchronous FET. This keeps the BOM cost low and avoids the shoot-through risk of a high-side/low-side pair, but efficiency at output voltages below 1.8V drops compared to a synchronous part — expect around 85% efficiency at 1.2V out, 2A in. The external diode also adds a layout constraint: the diode loop from switch node to ground must be under 10 mm to keep ringing below the 5.5V abs-max rating.

Frequently asked questions

What is the closest functional alternative to LMR10520YSD/NOPB?

The TPS65261RHBT is a different device — it is a triple-output synchronous buck with 3A per channel, 2 MHz switching, and a 4.5V minimum input. It does not drop into the same board as the LMR10520YSD/NOPB because the pinout, package (32-QFN vs 6-WSON), and supply rails differ. For a single-output 2A non-synchronous replacement, stay within the SIMPLE SWITCHER family.
