What this current sense amplifier does
The Texas Instruments LMP8646MK/NOPB is a single-circuit current sense amplifier in a SOT-23-THIN package. It monitors current by amplifying the voltage drop across a shunt resistor, outputting a ground-referenced voltage proportional to the load current. The 0.5 V/µs slew rate handles moderate-speed switching loads. Supply spans 2.7 V to 12 V.
Key specs that drive the design decision
Input offset voltage is 1 mV. Paired with the 12.5 µA input bias current, expect a few millivolts of error at the output if the shunt resistance is high. The 2.1 mA supply current is fixed. Output can sink or source 5 mA per channel. The single-circuit layout keeps the BOM simple.
Mounting and package note
Surface-mount in SOT-23-6 Thin. The thin profile keeps the package height low for tight board stacks. Supplier device package is SOT-23-THIN.
